A couple of days ago I started my car and it was sputtering and backfiring, I managed to only get to the end of my parking lot before the car died. I have been unsuccessful at starting the car since. When trying again the car backfired so bad that the muffler blew up. I am as a loss. What could be wrong with the car? Before this day I had to problems with it.

Hello, check for codes. Disable the fuel system, have a helper crank it, while you check for spark at the plugs.

Maybe the exhaust was clogged?
