2005 Chevy Colorado tranny or clutch?

My truck acts like it goes into gear but when I release the clutch the engine just revs. Last night it didnt want to go into down shift. After 20 mins it was fine again until today. Now obviously nothing happens. what could be the problem?

Clutch hydraulics need checking. See if fluid is up in master.Does pedal feel good or mushy? If good and with slipping then clutch disc is likely worn.
