The other day I killed the battery by leaving the lights on all night. In the morning I jumped my car and then drove it around. I stopped and filled up on gas and when I turned the car back on the check engine light came on. What could be the problem? I already tried taking the cap off and putting it back on just in case I didn't do it right the first time.

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.
