Is 102 C a guesstimation based on the temp gauge, or an actual reading on a thermometer, or the reading you get with an autoscanner hooked to your pcm?

Most cars run between 195-212 F (something like 91-100 C).

If your car is running hot, it could be many things. The most common problems are:
-Low coolant level (check level in overflow tank; when car is cold, coolant should be a little above 'cold' mark)
-coolant leak (check level and inspect hoses, radiator, water pump, etc). If your level of coolant is low, but you can't find a leak, you could have internal leak.
-thermostat (If you have a scanner that reads sensor input, grab the upper hose when scanner shows 195 F and try to feel coolant flow thru the hose while you keep an eye on scanner. When the thermostat opens, the hot coolant will exit the engine, and you should feel the hose getting very hot. Try to find out at what temp the thermostat open. Also, check at what temp the fan come on.
-the cooling system is getting clogged somewhere (radiator?)
-water pump is getting bad (replace)
-fan problem (Your fan should come one when the temp is a little beyond normal operating temp)
-bad coolant sensor (engine doesn't actually overheat, but gauge shows high temp)
-loose serpentine belt (slip on water pump pulley)
-collapsed bottom hose

Now, 102C is a little hotter than normal (for most cars) but it's not extreme temp yet.
Try to troubleshoot your car and narrow the possibilities.
Come back if you find out something or need more help.
