i recently replaced my fuel pump, and now my gas gauge will not read and my engine light will not turn off

Recheck your work.
The gas gauge works from a signal on the fuel pump gauge sender.
Other problems are most likely a blown fuse.
Be sure to disconnect the negative battery cable when working on electrical systems.
