I am having trouble with my cobalt grinding when going from first to second gear. I have been told that it is probably the synchronizer. Any ideas and how much would the repair possibly cost?

There is a TSB out that is very similar to your issues, except the TSB is for different gears. It does indicate faulty synchronizer so suspect this is the correct diagnosis. Tell a local reputable tranny shop that you want a free quote on replacing the syncrhonizer for the 1st and 2nd gears. They should be able to give you an estimate for parts and labor. I believe the syncrhonizer will probably run you around $150 part alone. Hope this helps.. Below is the TSB number and description of issue.
