New fuel filter & spark plugs Fuel tank pump/sending unit was replaced recently. Starts after 2 or 3 tries and runs well. Starts well when hot. I have noticed that sometimes the fuel gauge sometimes has "ticks" in the needle. -- Electrical? Do the injectors have a high pressure pump? What about a fuel pressure regulator? (I've used injector cleaner). The truck runs really well but it should start easier when cold. I've not found any obvious vacume leaks but I didn't really dig very deep. Thanks for any ideas.

Check the vacuum line to fuel pressure regulator for gasoline, if present then FPR needs to be replaced.

If OK, then check fuel pressure with mechanical gauge. Low pressure will cause hard starting especially cold.
