1998 Chevy Cheyenne Check Engin Light

My check engine light comes on everytime my gas tank goes below 1/2 full. Once I fill up my tank it goes back off. The code I'm getting is P0420 which I know is catalytic converter but I'm not sure how that would be affected by my fuel level.

it would be effeced because your evap cannister purge valve isn't workig properly. You need to check that... or take it in and let a pro look at it....
