I recently bought a 95 chev 1/2 ton. Has been driving well till a couple days ago. When we got some snow. I put it into 4 wheel drive and when I moved forward it felt like the front wheels where about to fall off. It was wobbling to back and forth (from left to right).
I had used the 4 wheel drive a week ago and it was fine.
thank

First thing to check is the front cv axles to make sure the ball bearings inside did not fall out. Try grabbing the axle and see if it flops around in your hand. Also check the u joints in the front driveshaft.

Hello, I check the cv axle. There is no play. The ujoints are fine on the drive shaft. It seems to be a "grabing" type motion that is making it woble from side to side. Anyother ideas? Before I take it into shop?
I did just put on the winter tires and new front rotors and pads but don't think that would affect 4 wd in anyway.

Thanks Flash

Hello,
figured it out. When I did the brakes I put on the front pair of winter (studded) tires. They are smaller than My summer tires. Figured I'd do the back ones this weekend. Well This morning I put the back winter tires on and the wobbling stopped. Learned something new. MATCH THE TIRE SIZES :)
thanks for the help
