My pu has on a few occasions accelerated unintentionally. It hasn't happened in a while but on occasion upon pressing on the accelerator (cruiss cont-off) the truck continued to accelerate after removing my foot from the accelerator. On all occasions I was able to stop the problem by quickly hammering on the accelerator with my foot.

A buddy thinks it might be a butterfly valve any ideas are appreciated.

Could be a binding throttle plate/linkages/acc. cable or the TPS out of calibration.
