We have just installed a new flywheel and starter, but when you go to start the truck it makes a loud grinding sound. We ahve been told that some starters require a shim.(??) Please helpus figure this problem out.

Thank you.

Hi:
Yes some do require shims. Does the new starter start the engine or does it just grind? Or, after it starts does it seem not to engage?

Let me know.
