1972 Chevy Chevelle V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic? Miles

I have a 72 Chevy 350 that runs great as long as I am accelerating. When idling in drive the car seems to miss, it rocks and eventually stalls. When the car is in park or nuetral it idles fine. I just replaced the carb, manifolds, valve covers, spark plugs, distributer cap and rotor, replaced points with electronic ignition. However it was doing this before I did all of that. The only thing I did not replace was spark plug wires and coil. Could it be this?

There is a tester that will show if a plug is sparking. On a camaro I had did the same thing and found it was a plug wire. When you rev it up the voltage would spark the plug but when ideling it would short out. Also found that plugs act the same at times.

Have you checked the harmonic Balancer? Aside from the timing if the balancer is damaged you won't get accurate timing.
