1972 Chevy Chevelle

4 year old chevy 350 with 4 year old mechanical fuel pump,can car still be running ok getting gas ok,but fuel pump put gas in oil , oil smells of gas changed oil drove around block,smells of oil again can fuel pump put gas in oil but car still run ok ?

Yup, a leaking rubber diapragm can let gas into the oil. Unbolt the pump without removing the fuel lines. You will see and / or smell gas if it's leaking.
