Engine Performance problem
1968 Chevy Chevelle V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My engine cuts out at high speeds. There is a new fuel pump,new fuel filter,and the carb has been rebuilt. Could it be the timing? Or mabe electrical

Define high speed,Are you goin thru the traps at 106mph and it cuts out or cruisin at 70mph and it cuts out.What type of fuel pump are you running?Is the motor worked? It could be as simple as the car is just running out of gas at high speed,the engine is using the fuel faster than the pump can pump it.Nice car,always liked the 68s.Good Luck,Lou

Did you install HEI distributor? if so do you have 12volts going to coil? You can't use the ignition wire from a point type ignition,it only has 7 volts,it is a resistor wire.Hope this helps
