Electrical problem
1966 Chevy Chevelle V8 Two Wheel Drive Manual

Wouldn't start so I replaced the ignition. Now it starts fine but won't shut off. I think it is an electrical problem but I don't know what or where to start.

Hi:
Something must be out of alignment with the switch that isn't allowing it to be switched into the right position. Give it a check to see if you can get any adjustment out if it in the off direction. By the way, great car! I don't know where you're from, but you can't find them here anymore.

Joe
PS: Let me know how you make out with it.

We are 20mi No of West Palm Beach. The car came from a city No of Chicago.
I got under the car and looked at the front of the starter. 2 wires on the front of the starter were making contact. When I separated them I heard the starter power shut off. Since then the car starts and shuts off every time.
Thanks for your efforts to help.

Hi:
Wow, you're lucky the car didn't burn. Make sure you have done something to keep the wires apart. I wouldn't want to see that one burn.

Take care and let me know if I can help in the future.
