Hi there,
You will have to determine if the sender unit or the gauge is faulty first. To do this, remover the wire from the temp sender and earth it out, if the gauge deflects to full hot the sender is faulty. Do this with ignition on but dont leave it on for too long, just get some one to check that it is moving, that is enough to prover the gauge is ok.
