Transmission problem
1985 Chevy Celebrity 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive ? Miles

This car after reaching opertating temp will start to shuder and die when coming to a stop if you let the car set for 15 or 20 min. It will be ok untill it gets back to operating temp. This is the second time I have ran in to this the other time it was around the same year on a chevy corsica. I unpluged the the wire for toruqeconverter clutch and it quit doing it so the guy did not want it fixed so he just took it that way. My question is, Is this a commen problem with chevy? And what is the commen problem the clutch in the converter it's self or the silonoid sticking? Thank you Steve.

It was common for the solenoid to stick on the TH125C transaxle, which this could have. Does this typically occur after cruising, where the converter would have a chance to engage? If you shift it to neutral during the event, does it still stall. I would disconnect the transmission electrically and see if it still acts up.

Thank you for the information. And the answer to your question is that on the corsica is that if you shifted in to nuteral it would not stall out. I will try disconecting the transmission electrically on the celaberty and if that works I understand your saying the solenoid is sticking and to replace it. Is that correct?

Yes, the solenoid is normally open and exhausting, it closes when energized. If you prevent it from energizing by disconnecting it, and it don't act up, I would replace it.
