Hard to Start

I have a 1998 Chevy Cavalier with 82,670 miles on it that turns over but doesn't want to start. It just started this. I replaced the fuel filter and you can hear the pump picking up so I ruled both of those problems out. The check engine light is now on so I unplugged the 02 sensor at the exhaust manifold to see if it went away or if it would help it start but neither thing happened. What could it be or where do I go from here?

Don't assume the pump is okay. It HAS to in spec. As the system is dependant on the right pressure. Need a pressure gauge for that.
A quick test you can do that will probably eliminate it is to spray some starting fluid into the throtle body and see if it starts for a moment.

The CEL that came on may be a by-product of your no start. It would be good to check the codes in the computer anyway. Need a code reader for that.

Plug the O2 sensors back in. There will probably codes in there for that because you unplugged them and those will probably inconsequential.
