I just bought this car and the fuel gauge seems to stick. It does not return to zero and when I start it, adds the reading to the previous reading. It goes down a bit at times but not to zero. Unfortunately the warranty only covers the drive train.

I cannot find a 2005 cluster but I see clusters meant for 2000-2004 models that look identical. Can I use this in a 2005?

Considering I doubt GM would change this part for the last year of production of a mature design.

Has anyone had any luck opening the cluster and trying out just blowing out the gauge (very gently) in case it is just dirt or something? I am an electronics engineer and have prior experience fixing meter movements so this would not be beyond my capability.
