2005 Chevy Cavalier 77,600 miles

My speedometer quit working while I was in the middle of driving. This has happened before but was back to normal the next morning. Do you have any ideas why it would be working fine one minute and just completely go to zero the next?

first check all fuses if they are ok suspect a faulty gauge or a faulty speedometer cable or a faulty speed sensor
