2004 Chevy Cavalier sudden exceleration/not shifting

today when i started my 2004 cavalier the speedometer was not working, it was excelerating suddenly and would not shift through the drive gears properly. I called the guy that works on my car and he said it sounded like an electrical problem. can you help diagnos this or point me in the right direction?

Replace the vehicle speed sensor (VSS).

Let me know if that fixes the problem.
