2004 Chevy Cavalier gas gage

2004 Chevy Cavalier 67000 miles

the needle on my gas gage will not stay in the normal e-f range. it continues on past the f mark and goes all the way to bottom of the other side. so i cannot tell how much gas i have. what could be the problem

Hi:
It sounds like you have a short in the wiring. You will need to locate it by tracing the wiring from the fuel tank.
