Hello, My 2003 Chevy Cavalier Temp rises when A/C is on. it has 158000.00 klms and is a automatic. there are no strange sounds or fluid leaks...and the only thing we replaced besides brakes was the fuel pump a year ago....but everything worked fine after that.

we noticed it about 4 months ago when the car was idling...it was idling fine and then all of a sudden the tach started to flutter up and down....it wasn't until we turned the A/C off that everything returned to normal. when the car is at an idle with the AC on...the temperature gage rises past its normal mark.

any ideas? could it be the fan, thermostat, or compressor?

thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

Its normal for the temp to rise a little over the half mark with thw AC on. It happens cause the load of running the AC has a bit more heat to be used. Now if it goes over 3/25 mark to then I would get worried. Even that for a piece of its pretty easy to flush the cooling system and add a new thermostat, And new coolant then youre set.

Good Luck.
