2003 Chevy Cavalier tail light/turn signals

my tail light just one stops working after a new lamp is installed in just one day. the metal connector and the plastic around the connector appears to get melted when this happens what could be the cause of this?

Make sure you have the correct bulb installed. Also, if the socket is melted, you should replace it.
