2003 Chevy Cavalier Rear Brakes

Hello...

I had my rear brakes / drums replaced in July 09 for the first time since I had bought my car. I bought my car brand new so it has only had one owner. I lived in MD where traffic is stop and go everyday and I live 20 miles from work. However I took my car in for an oil change today and my mechanic says I need rear brakes again. How often should rear brakes have to be replaced? He also said I needed front brakes too but I realize that's probably because my car is front wheel drive so those don't concern me as much.

Any advice would be great. I just want to know if the shop who replaced them the first time took my money and didnt replace them.

rear brakes rarely need replaced, especially if they have drums. you normally will run through 3 or 4 front brake pads before ever needing a rear brake shoe replacement..
