2003 Chevy Cavalier life span of stock cat w/aftermarket in

i replaced stock intake w/k&n typhoon intake and a performance exhaust from pacesetter. i left the cat converter stock. the smog tech said that it is fine for now but the new intake and exhaust might shorten the life of the cat converter down to a three year lifespan. is this true?
