I stopped at a gas station for fill up. When I restarted, it wont start. Only clicking sound is coming from the front. Guy at the gas station tapped the started to make it start but it didn't. I replace the starter with the rebuilt one. But it still makes the same clicking noise and won't crank the engine. There are no warning lights on the dashboard. Battery power is 12.4 volts. What else could I check to find the problem. Please help.

Get the battery load tested if it doesn't hold 9.6 volts in 10secs get a new one and then report back with some results. If it checks out check the alternator-double check for loose connections

This morning I was gonna take it to car shop to have the battery tested. So I was getting ready to Jump start. But before I get ready to attach the jumper cables. I just for no reason, turn the key and the car started with out any delay. Just like normal start. But I still like to know the cause, so that I don't get stranded again.

Got the battery load tested by a local auto part shop. My battery was the AC Delco 525 CCA. It was only giving out 243amps. I replaced it with Energizer PG108-75. Its 700 CCA.
Is it a good idea to leave the new starter in or I should put my old one back in?
While I had my hands dirty, I also replaced the spark plugs. Removed the factory AC Delco and install Bosch Platinum+4 typ plugs. On one of the old plug, the centre tip was almost gone.

Hello,

A lot of these vehicles have issues with battery cables being corroded or loose.
That can prevent the engine from starting.

So, it would be a good idea to check the cables and clean and tighten as necessary. The cable might even need replacement.

I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
