My engine block seems to rattle extremely loudly when I drive the car. There is no issue with the cars performance, everything runs fine and there are no warning lights on the dashboard. The only other potential issue is that it occassionally has trouble shifting in low gear. Is it possible it is just the motor mount or is there another issue?

Have someone apply brakes and you watch engine movement as helper shifts from reverse to drive. Engine will move an inch or so, if you have excessive engine movement, then mount (motor/trans) is bad/loose/collapsed.
