no heat

check the heater core hoses it should be hot if not
flush heater core
Engine cool
lower the coolant level
Locate the two hoses running to the heater core
disconnect them at the engine side leaving hoses connected to heater core throw the firewall
use garden water hose and compressed air if possible
run the water and follow by air throw one side and out the other and vice versa
do that two to three times watching what leaving the heater core you are looking for the good flow and clear water to run throw

On the way home from Thanksgiving vacation, the car quit heating and the gauge on the dash stopped registering engine temperature. There seems to be no problem with the radiator and the reservoir is still full. There is still air blowing from the vents, and everything else appears fine. There is no leaking onto the floorboard to suggest the heater core and I know nothing about cars to know where else to look. Where do I look? What can I do to get heat on a very minimal budget?

today i turned the heater fan on and it made a deafening noise that wont quit. what can this be??? no noise when the heater is turned off. when the heater is on and no fan on i hear a purring....turn the fan on and lose your hearing

Most likely the fan assy. has broke or is loose. You will have to take the blower motor and fan out to see what has happened.

I have an antifreeze leak which is obvious. But when I run the fan no hot air comes out just cold. Also the gauge goes from cold to exteremly hot, it goes back and forth.

You dont have any heat, because you've lost so much coolant that there isn't any in the heater core.

you need to fix the leak or you can damage the engine if it over heats.
