Hi, I have a 2001 chevy cavalier 117000 miles/automatic. My problem is when I go to make a left turn from a starting at a stopped position, my car will sometimes start revving high halfway through the turn as if it was in the neutral position and then it will catch the gear I guess? And I will be able to move again. This only happens when I make a left turn and it only seems to do it when the transmission is switching gears. If I were driving stick, it almost seems like I would be making a left and halfway through the turn I would press down on the clutch pedal, give it also of gas and then release the clutch. Sometimes it happens so I hard I get some wheel spin out of it. My guess was maybe something with the transmission, maybe the differential considering it is on that side? Please help!

Check the fluid level in the trans. Trans, should be at operating temp, engine running and in park.
If low that could be your problem.

If fluid level is OK, I would change the trans. Filter and gasket. Look for any metal particles in the trans fluid and on the magnets inside the pan.

Other than that, you will most likely have to take it to a trans. Shop for a diagnosis.
Once an automatic starts slipping, it usually gets worse.
