Gentlemen: I'm looking at a 2000 Chev Cavalier for a possible purchase from a private party. The current owner said the AC worked fine last year, but this year blows hot. I'm guessing the freon has leaked out. What could be the cause of this, and what are the potential repair costs?

Thanks alot,

Cost could be anywheres from about $100 to $2500

Realistically, it Will more likley be less than $1000.

It can be as simple as an o-ring and as complicated as multi-leaks that may include a compressor, evaporator core, condenser or a line.

Need to see if it holds vacuum, if it does charge the system and have dye added.
