Electrical problem
2000 Chevy Cavalier Automatic 103000 miles

My problem first appeared last winter on a very cold evening, pressed the unlock button on the remote and the driver door would not unlock. It unlocks fine with the key or using the inside lever. It locks normally. The passenger door works fine, but the remote trunk release does not work either. When the remote buttons are pressed the car recieves the signal (lights flash) but nothing happens to the driver door or trunk.

Took it to be repaired, they said it was the module, but it started working again before any repairs were done. Worked great until a cold night this winter, same thing, driver door/trunk will not unlock automatically, passenger door works great. I thought the warmth of the garage might have fixed it last time, but it has been in the garage since with no improvement.

This problem is not remote specific, I have factory keyless entry and an after-market remote engine starter remote, plus the inside power button has no effect and the trunk pop is dead as well. Also the factory remote lock settings never worked correctly since I've owned the car (doors do not lock when factory remote is pressed, works fine with other remote).

Is it really the module, or something else? Any insight or guesses would be appreciated! Thanks.

It sure sounds like a module. Does the car sit aot? Do you know what codes they had the last time?

What's your definition of alot? I usually drive it everyday, just not on long trips. I'm not sure they had any idea what was wrong when I took it in, they took the door apart thinking it was just mechanical, but that doesn't really factor the trunk in. So it was declared the module. I don't know about the codes. I'm wondering if it's just a loose wire or something, since it started working again after they had looked at it.

Thank you so much for your reply!
