2000 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl

I have installed a new water pump and thermastat and my temp gage has pressure and no heat, could this be caused from a collapsing hose? The hoses are soft.

It could be a hose, but you would see it if you look. Make sure the coolant is full, the system is bled, and with the engine hot, running and the heater on, let me know if both heater core hoses are hot.
