2000 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

my 2000 cavalier with 2.2 motor will seem to only start when the gas pedal is put to the floor like it has a flood condition. if i don't do that ,it will turn over all day and not start

have you checked to see if there was any trouble codes in the pcm.
