Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
I recently replaced the starter, but when I put it back in the battery mysteriously went dead. It's been on a charger for over 5 hrs and doesn't seem to be charging, but it was fine when the starter went out. Is this normal?

I'd appreciate any help you can give.

No! I hate to ask, but are the wires on the starter in the right place? Charger hooked up right? Remove the battery cables and charge that way, then if there is a short, lets say in the alternaotor, you can check it after the battery is charged...
