While changing my oil, I noticed a plug is missing on a pan(transmission??) directly behind my oil pan. The plug looks to be about 5/8 or 9/16 in size. It is located on the top left part of the pan and it is facing to the passenger side/ rear of the vehicle. What is this plug???? Is it even a plug or something different?? Is it needed or can I get by without it. There also seems to be some type of residue around the area that worries me. Please help.
