1999 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

How much do you think (ball park estimate) it would cost to replace the back breaks on my car. It gives a god awful grinding noise from the back right rear? Its been doing this for a while now.

Thanks

Depends on who does it, but if drums, you may have to replace the drums if they are damaged enough.

So, $25-35 for each drum, $25 for the shoes, $10 for a hardware kit, then 1 hour labor.

The fact that they are grinding, indicates that the shoes are worn completely out and there is metal to metal contact.

It is possible the wheel cylinders are leaking and would require replacement also.

Shop around and get a couple estimates.
