When my chevy tries to go into second, it either slips or maybe it is just not going into gear totally. Is there a band or something I can adjust my self?

There isn't a band that can be adjusted. If it is slipping, it sounds like the clutch pack may be bad. Is the fluid full and clean? Have you tried servicing the transmission with a new filter?
