my check engine light came on so i checked it and the code said p0480 which i found out means a fault with a relay switch for the cooling fan. i changed the relay switch in the fuse box under the hood and the check engine light is still on

Cooling fan relay is in engine compartment in fuse/relay/fuseable link box. It should be marked on plastic cover.
