1998 Chevy Cavalier O2 sensor

I took the car to a parts store and they put a code reader on it and it said the downstream o2 sensor was bad so I had them order one for it and after I put it in my son noticed it said it was for the 2.2 and not the 2.4 that is in the car would this make the check engine light still stay on and the idle is not right and the tach jumps around when you rev the engine

If the clock position on the sensor leads is different than the positions on your connector, MOST definatly! Get the right part.
