1998 Chevy Cavalier Engine Noise

When the car accelerates the engine sounds like an airplane revving its engine on the tarmac. It is very loud in the passenger area and the sound increases when the gas pedal is pushed. If the car is sitting idle or in park and the gas pedal is pushed the airplane engine sound doesn't appear. Is is the engine, transmission, or something else?

hard to say...... Since it has to be moving, it could be suspension or trans.Inspect the tires for uneven wear and do a visual inspection, if you cant see anything obvious I would have a shop look at it
