1998 Chevy Cavalier brakes locking up

I have a 1998 cavalier that when a little more than slight brake pressure is applied, the rear brakes lock up(more so the passenger side) and a hard banging sound happens. Please help.

Check rear brakes for contamination ie. leaking wheel cylinder
