Let's get down to it is there really any disadvantage to wiring your fan directly? I've done so and so far so good. I have not had the car get hot, I have excellent heat and don't have to worry and I know when I start out for the day as soon as I turn the car on the fan is working.

I know there's those who it's bad and those who say it's not. What's the consensus.

For those of you who say i'm too lazy to actually fix the problem you may be right. But I did try replacing the relay and tested a good known working fan and had the issue of the fan randomly running and thus killing the battery with the car completely shut off. I decided this was better than unplugging the fan/relay whenever I partked the car. I am planning on replacing the pcm due to other issues soon and will probably put the fan back to it's normal cycling on and off state.

Sorry for the late reply.

How hot was it getting in degrees F? Did you check for applicable trouble codes? Some of the national brand auto stores used to check codes for free. Might be a code for the coolant temp sensor or radiator fan control circuit?

By running the radiator fan anytime the engine is running, there more load on the electrical system, plus, the wear on the motor itself. I try to keep everything the way the manufacturer intended good or bad.

I realize this is an old post. You probably no longer own this vehicle. In the future hope you don't have any vehicle issues, if you do, keep the site in mind. They are always working to make the site better, more moderators and it's free.

Have a good day.
