Ok i was wondering. around the engine serpatine belt there is this really high scraping pitched noise. sounds like metal on metal. i was told that it was either the serpatine belt or the tensioner. any suggestions of what it may be? thank you

Hello,

If it sounds like metal on metal I would say it is the tensioner pulley bearings going bad. To check have a can of spray lube in hand, with engine off spray center bolt of tensioner pulley then start vehicle if noise appears to be gone for short time then replace pulley.

If noise is still there you can repeat procceedure for each pulley on vehicle, you will have to spray behind some pulleys to get to the bearings.
