My serpentine belt shredded completely, and the repair doesn't look too complicated, but when I look at the tensioner pulley, it seems tilted (out of line with the others). Is that normal when there is no tension from the belt?

There will be some slack in the tensioner if the belt isnt on it. A picture would be best here.. If it were me, I would just replace the tensioner as well as all the pullies that have bearings in them with that many miles that are on the car to keep this from happening again.
