I smell gas when I turn the heater on but only when I drive slow or when I stop what could it be

Inspect the entire fuel system for leaks. Start at fuel rail, look for gas around injectors, loose hose connections or seeping gas.
Inspect the fuel pressure regulator for gas in vacuum line.
