I had the SAME issue with a 1997 Eagle Talon TSI. I know that they are two completely different cars, but the problem itself is still the same. When I replaced my crank shaft sensor on my car it ran well for about a week, after that my car wouldn't idle correstly (about 800 above normal) and then wouldn't start all the time. I took it to AutoZone where I purchased my part and they read my ENGINE codes, it was a "problem with the timing" but all it really ended up being (after 2 weeks of my car in my garage front of my motor torn up replacing the timing belt, resetting the timing, retraining the crank sensor, playing with my throttle body, checking for vaccumm leaks in the air intake, cleaning my EGR valve, replacing oxygen sensors, everything else all these "proffesionals" at ""dealerships"" were telling me) I just took my Crank sensor out, returned it to AutoZone got a new one put it in retrained it and I have been fine since. It's been 2 years still running good. (In short maybe you bought a bad new part. It sucks but it happens)
