1997 Chevy Cavalier clicking sound

When I try to start my car there is a clicking sound. I turned on my lights and tried again and the lights dimmed. Yesterday my battery light was on. My battery is not even a year old. Do you believe my starter is bad?

I would try a jump first
and if it worked and the car start
then the starter is OK
and I will check the charging system and alternator +the battery
but if you had the battery light on that’s an indication most of the time its the charging system
so have the alternator checked
after you have checked all your fuses of course
if jump don’t work I would say its the starter no good
