Heater problem
1997 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl Automatic 190000 miles

I've replaced the blower motor resistor in my car 4 times because the heater isn't working. Each time, it temporarily fixes it -- for about a week or so. Then the resistor just burns out.

There is nothing wrong with the relay or fuses. The blower motor is working fine.

What else could it be? It's in the connection.I think.

Put the switch on high and check the voltage on the orange wire coming out of the resistor. If you have less than Bat. Voltage then there is excessive resistance in the circuit. Your resistor does not drop the voltage on high only on the other three speeds.
If the motor is pulling high amps it could cause your problem. However a loose and or corroded connection
could also cause it. Check the connection at the motor, at the resistor the fuse block and don't forget the ground. Any of these points with a loose or corroded connection could be your problem.

Good luck
