1996 Chevy Cavalier speedometer not working

The speedometer have stoped working. The car doesn't have much power when i drive it. I used to hear a clicking noise coming from the accelerator when I drive it but not anymore. Do you think it could be the transmission?

Either the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) or the gauge itself.

Lack of power, could be engine is in need of tune up or possible transmission problem.
